STEPHEN (STEVE) PORCH

STEPHEN PORCH

Stephen Charles Porch was born January 1,1947 in Missoula, MT the son of  William and Jeanne Porch. Steve served in U.S. Navy 1964-1966 as a Sonar Tech. 

 Steve drove truck for many years and many different companies, starting for Don Trip from Lo Lo Montanna, to Yellow Freight, Gabriel Construction, Northwood and eventually retiring From Mayo Construction with his wife working along side him. While enjoying retirement Steve took pleasure in driving retired veterans to and from Dr. appointments. 

 In full perfectionist Steve fashion, he married Carol Humble despite the circumstances on the date they had planned, October 17th of 1986. When their minister forgot he had a ceremony on the 17th, Steve didn’t let that mess up his plans of marrying his soulmate. They ran to the local Bingo Hall, where the minister was enjoying a game… and in the middle of the bingo hall and the game, they were married! 

 Over the next 39 years of their marriage, they lived in Warwick for many years before moving to Devils Lake while they raised two daughters. After the kids moved out, they eventually settled in Binford, ND for the last 25 + years where Steve enjoyed remodeling with his wife and adding on to their home and making the perfect wood shop in his garage. He also enjoyed striving for the the best yard in the county with his green thumb. 

 Steve had a passion for making people laugh. He was famous for uniting people with his humor and his heel click jumps! He was a fantastic artist in many forms, from woodwork, stained glass, really anything involving work with his hands. Attention to detail was his middle name, and a true handy man, was indeed, his favorite game…of course aside from a good puzzle or card game 😉 

 Steve is survived by his wife, Carol Porch of Binford, ND, brother David of Oregon, brother Guy of Binford, Children; Athena (Preston) Savre of Cooperstown, Tara Pirnie (Chad Heinze) of Binford. Grandchildren; Tesla Christenson (Shane Leininger) of Fargo, Alexis (Connor) Larson of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Leo Pirnie of Binford. Great Grandchild Laiken Larson. 

 Preceeded in Death byParents; William (Bill) Porch, and Jeanne Porch. Brothers, Dennis and Richard. 

 Services will be held in Tolna, ND on September 7th at 1pm at New Life Fellowship. Food to follow at the church and burial after that in Warwick, ND.
