RICHARD WAHL

Richard Russell Wahl, 67, passed away March 29, 2023, at his home under the care of hospice surrounded by his family.

Richard was born June 10, 1955, to parents Russell and Dorothy (Benson)Wahl in Cooperstown, ND. He grew up on the family farm west of Walum, ND. He attended Hannaford Public School and NDSU. He married his high school sweetheart, Karen Olson, on July 9, 1977. They lived on the family farm from 1979 until the fall of 2020 when they moved to Fargo.

Richard was a proud father to his three children – a son, Lucas Wahl, Hannaford, a son, Jared Wahl, Fargo and a daughter Valerie and her special husband Shilo Ford, Jamestown. He was a proud grandfather to Tyler, Aaron, Meghan, Alec and Nora Ford. He was especially proud of the fact that Nora was born on his birthday.

Richard has three sisters – Margaret Lima, Valley City, ND, Cynthia (Arden) LaBonte, Side Lake, MN, and Rebecca Henderson, Rochester, MN. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, special aunt Mary Heibert, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, parents-in-law, his brother John Wahl, brother-in-law Ron Lima, brother-in-law Jerry Olson, and nephew Scott Lima

He enjoyed working on the farm, golfing, and bowling. Throughout his lifetime, he was a dedicated public servant serving on the Bowling Alley, township, school board, church, NDWF, etc. He will be deeply missed by his family
