PHILIP J. TURCHIN
Philip John Turchin, 78 Finley ND died Monday December 26, 2022 in Luther Memorial Home in Mayville ND.
Philip was born May 10, 1944 to parents John Turchin and Edna (Olson) Turchin in Fargo. Philip graduated from Casselton High School in 1962. Following graduation Philip joined the US Navy, as a SeaBees and was deployed to the Philippines building air strips and then stationed in Da Nang Vietnam.
He was honorably discharged on July 22, 1966 and released to Naval Reserve until July 1, 1968.
In 1966 Philip met the Love of his life Marilyn Nelson, and on March 28, 1969 they were married in Fargo and they made their home in Casselton ND. Philip attended Interstate Business College for 2 years and received his degree in Bookkeeping. On July 2, 1970 they welcomed their daughter Jodie. In 1971 they moved to Northwood ND where Philip was the bookkeeper for Northwood Equity Elevator for 24 years.
1995 they moved to Fargo where he worked for Fargo Hose Company and The Evergreens. Making the final move to Finley ND in 2004 to retire.
Philip was a member of the American Legion Post #6 of Grand Forks for 18 years. Philip enjoyed wood working, going to the casino and spending time with his Family. Philips pride and joy were his 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Philip is survived by his wife Marilyn of Finley ND, His Daughter Jodie (Jeff) Carlson of Finley ND, Granddaughters Samantha (Josh) Iverson of Thief River Falls MN, Shelby (Jordan) Hanson of Finley ND, Grandson Wyatt Carlson Valley City ND, Brothers Roger (Janice) Turchin of West Fargo ND, Mike (Cindy) Turchin of Henning MN, Mark (Deb) Turchin of West Fargo ND, Sisters Bernadette Costello of Dilworth MN, Melinda Hoffman of Horace ND, and many Nieces and Nephews.
Philip is proceeded in death by his parents John and Edna, Sister LucyAnn Quittschreiber, Brothers Tom Turchin, Stanley Turchin, Nephews, Brian Turchin, Duane Turchin, Todd Turchin, Brothers-In-Law, Denny Quittschreiber, George Hoffman and David Costello.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 6:00 pm till 7:00 pm followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm in the Finley Lutheran Church, Finley, ND. A Memorial Service will be Friday, December 30, 2022 at 10:30 am in the Church. Interment will be in the Fargo National Cemetery, Fargo, ND at 2:00 pm Friday, December 30, 2022.
