MASON GENE WHITMORE

Mason Gene Whitmore 85, Hope, ND, died Friday, October 30^th, 2020, in Sanford Health Hospital, Mayville, ND. 

He was born November 13, 1934, to DeWitt (Dodger) and Amanda (Mitchell) Whitmore.  Mason grew up and attended school in Colgate ND and graduated from Colgate High School in 1952.  Mason helped on the family farm until he married Joyce Knutson in 1958.  They purchased a farm 1 mile south of Hope, ND, where they farmed, raised cattle, and drove school bus for several years.  In 1980, he started a business with his wife called M & J Trucking. 

Horses were a big part of Mase’s life.  He enjoyed many trips to Medora, trail riding, horse shows, and sales.  He was an active member of the Colgate Presbyterian Church where he served as a Trustee and Deacon.  Mason enjoyed playing cards and games with his family.  He enjoyed helping out during Fall harvest with a local farmer.  He took joy in attending his great grandkids’ sporting events. 

He is survived by a daughter Lori (Steve) Fuglestad, son Ted (Tara), and son Scott, grandchildren Dane (Jamie) Fuglestad, Hallie (Richard) Warren, Whitney (Parker) Hillius, Ashton (Matt) Whitmore, and Garrett Whitmore, great grandchildren Savannah, Trent, and Janessa Warren and Leyla Fuglestad,  brothers-in-law, David Knutson and Dwight Foss. 

Mason was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers Donovan and Milton Whitmore, sisters LaDonna Whitmore, and Nellie Foss. 

A private family service will be held Tuesday, November 10^th, 2020, at 10 a.m. at the Colgate Presbyterian Church, Colgate, ND.  Visitation will be Monday, November 9^th, 2020, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Hope American Legion, Hope, ND.  Interment will be in the Page Cemetery.
