Marlys E. McKay

   Marlys E. McKay of Finley North Dakota was born December 1, 1932 and died June 16, 2023. She was the youngest of nine children born to Carl T. Workman and Julia Olson Workman of Pillsbury, ND. All her immediate family predeceased her.

   Born on a farm near Colgate, ND, Marlys moved with her family to a farm near Pillsbury, ND. She attended school in Baldwin and Pillsbury, graduating from Pillsbury. After HS Marlys attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, then held office positions in Fargo, Colorado Springs, CO and Finley, working more than 31 years for Farmers Union Insurance Office before retiring in 2008.

   A longtime member of the Finley Methodist Church, Marlys was church treasurer from 1977 to 2016. She was a “Fifty Plus” member of Finley’s PEO Chapter #82 (Eastern Star), holding the office of Worthy Matron during two different years and Conductress for many years.

   Marlys’ greatest joy were her four sons and their families. She is survived by three sons: Tim (Cindy) McKay of Minot, ND, Rick (Mary) McKay of Corvallis, OR and Randy McKay of Finley, ND; and daughter-in-law: Tami McKay of Brookline, NH, her son Thomas preceded Marlys in death in 2021. The next generation survivors include eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and Lilly Nahnsen.

Visitation:  Will be 5–7 PM on Thursday, June 22, 2023 with a 7:00 PM Public Prayer Service at the Quam~Plaisted~Cushman Funeral Chapel in Finley, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 23, 2023 at the Finley Lutheran Church in Finley, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Finley Cemetery in Finley, ND.
