MARLYS F. JACOBSON

Marlys Faith (Kainz) Jacobson (82) passed away December 4, 2024 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. 

Marlys, daughter of William and Wilma (Zutter) Kainz, was born in Sharon, ND on August 19, 1942. She was the first one in her family to graduate from Hope Public School in 1960. On October 21, 1960 she married James Jacobson and they started their life together on the family farm in Finley, ND. Together they raised their four children Scott, Brenda, Gary and Chrissie on the farm. 

Marlys worked alongside Jim as they farmed together for 40 years. She enjoyed reading and loved music as she played the piano and accordian. She always had music playing and taught all the kids to two step in the kitchen. She made many trips walking up and down the gravel road for her daily walk and continued to walk many laps while at the nursing home. Marlys and Jim traveled near and far over the years seeing new places but also attended countless events for the kids and grandkids. She loved her family and was always there to help and support them. 

Marlys continues to be loved by her husband, Jim; 4 children: Scott Jacobson, Brenda (Glenn) Rethemeier, Gary Jacobson, Chrissie (Craig) Ketelsen; 4 grandchildren: Amanda Jacobson, Kelby Jacobson, Chase Kunze, and Shaylee Kunze; Siblings: Betty Ewing, Ed Kainz, Patricia (Larry) Satrom; In laws: Fay Kainz,Leroy Jacobsen, Nancy Kainz and Janice Robinson; bonus family: Emily Ketelsen, John Ketelsen, Erika Ketelsen, Jon (Leslie) Rethemeier, Jason (Annie) Rethemeier and family, Patrick (Danielle) Rethemeier and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter in law: Paula Jacobson; siblings: Bonnie (Everett) Skinner, Robert (Janet) Kainz, Clarence Kainz, Bertha Jacobsen and Mike Kainz; in-laws: Jim Ewing, Harold Armstrong, Marj Kainz and Charlie Robinson.

Visitation will be December 10, 2024 from 1:00 pm till 2:00 pm in the Ostervold Lutheran Church, rural Finley, ND followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm in the Church. interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
