LOIS MAE CURTIS
Lois Mae Curtis(Fink), 86, found peace on July 31, 2020 after dealing with Alzheimer’s Disease for the recent years of her life. She realized it was disease she couldn’t beat so she was ready for her next journey.
Lois Mae Fink was born August 29, 1933 to Ben and Ester(Dinger) Fink at Breckenridge, Mn. She attended school in Eden, SD; Page, ND; and Cooperstown, ND graduating in 1951. She attended Mercy School of Nursing in Valley City, Devils Lake ND, St. Bernard’s Hospital Council Bluffs Iowa, and St. Mary’s Hospital Minneapolis, MN graduating in 1954. Lois was employed for 48 years as a RN by the following agencies: Griggs County Hospital, Cooperstown Clinic, Nelson-Griggs County Public Health, Cooperstown Medical Center Nursing Home. She married John(Jack) Curtis October 29, 1955 and they enjoyed
54 years together creating memories and 2 sons, Greg and Mark. They enjoyed camping and she was the secretary for their Good Sam’s Camping Club. They became snowbirds and spent several winters in Texas warm weather. Lois also enjoyed playing cards, crocheting afghans, embroidery, gardening, dogs, movies, baking,traveling, and music.
After Jack’s death, December 2009, she moved to Jamestown, ND in
2010 and went to Ava Mara Village Nursing Home August 2015. Lois appreciated her care and it was her faith and sense of humor that kept her motivated. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church Cooperstown, ND and St. James Basilica Jamestown, ND.
Lois is survived by her sons: Greg(Judy)Curtis, Denver CO, granddaughters Gretchen(Thomas) Gordon great grandchildren Presley, Thomas Jr., Corpus Christi TX, Heidi(Robby) Christensen, Houston, TX, Anna Curtis, San Antonio,TX, Maria Curtis, DallasTX; son Mark(Michele) Curtis, Jamestown, ND grandson Grant Curtis, Los Angeles, CA; sister, LeAnn(Elroy) Evans, Wadena, MN; brother, Ben (Linda) Fink Wahpeton, ND; sister-in-law Caryl Bednar, Gallatin,TN and several nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws and husband.
In lieu of flowers, family is requesting memorials be sent to Ava Maria Village, Jamestown Hospital Hospice, or Alzheimer’s Association. The family would like to express special thanks to Ava Maria Village staff for their dedicated care and compassion.
Funeral will be held Friday, August 7, 2020 at St. George Catholic Church, Cooperstown, ND at 2:00 pm.
Due Covid 19, at a later date there will be a graveside memorial to celebrate her love and life.
