Laurel "Laurie" Ann Gunderson

Laurel (Laurie) Ann Grinager was born March 21st, 1950 to E. Haakon and Agnes Grinager in Mayville ND. She grew up in Mayville and graduated from Mayville High School in 1968. She worked at A & W Drive In while attending college at Mayville State University where she earned a teaching degree in 1972.

Laurie got her first teaching job at Turtle Mountain Indian School in Belcourt ND. It was there that she met Maynard Gunderson. They were married August 16th , 1976 in Bemidji MN. Together they raised 3 children: Tina, Jeremy & Danny. They relocated a few times to Rolla ND, Cooperstown ND, and finally to Bismarck ND. Laurie substitute taught in Cooperstown, and was a full time paraprofessional in Bismarck at Wachter Middle School, and later Jeanette-Myhre Elementary School. She retired from teaching after her first grandchild was born.

Laurie enjoyed playing bridge, going to rummage sales, trying new recipes, crossword puzzles, playing the lottery(she was sure she was destined to win one day), and playing games with her kids and grandkids. If she could help it, she never missed The Price is Right or Jeopardy.

Laurie passed away early in the morning on Sunday March 15th in her home with her husband by her side. She was 75 years old.

Laurie will be dearly missed by her husband Maynard; her daughter Tina(Terry) Kenninger; Sons Jeremy(Landa) Gunderson and Danny(Ashley) Gunderson; Her Grandchildren Daphne, Kayla, Gage, Sutton, and Beckett; In-laws Pearl Johnson, Marvin(Debbie) Gunderson, Sharon(Rodney) Romacher, Jerome(Ramona) Gunderson, Barbara(Bill) Crocker; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law Mildred Gunderson; In-laws Phyllis Gunderson, Jerry Johnson, Alice and Palmer Noss and Norman Gunderson; niece Sarah Gunderson and nephews Ryan and Brad Gunderson.

The Memorial Service for Laurie will be held Tuesday March 24th at 2pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown.
