Julie Ann Hoverson
August 17, 1951 – November 13, 2023
Julie Ann Monson was born on August 17, 1951, in Cooperstown, ND, to her parents, Kenneth S. and Wilmina (Sutter) Monson. She attended school in Cooperstown and graduated valedictorian of her class in 1969. She attended the University of North Dakota and earned a bachelor of science degree in medical technology.
On September 8, 1973, Julie married David Hoverson at Sheyenne Valley Lutheran Church, in rural Finley.
Julie worked at St. Michaels and United Hospital in Grand Forks, before moving to Page, ND, and later Sutton, ND. Julie and David would later settle in Cooperstown, and Julie worked at Cooperstown Medical Center, now Dakota Regional Medical Center, for 44 years before retiring on April 30, 2022.
Their son, Charlie, was born on April 10, 1981.
Julie was active in her church, Sheyenne Valley Lutheran. She enjoyed singing in the community choir. She found joy in collecting three wise men, wine glasses, and Blue Danube patterned china. In early adulthood, she enjoyed playing women’s softball, bowling, and playing in the community band, and in the summers of her youth, she spent some time working at Red Willow Resort.
Julie was an outdoors woman who spent time riding horse, gardening, fishing, deer hunting, and shooting archery. She enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family. Her nieces and nephews were special people in her life. When indoors, Julie enjoyed reading books, baking, completing crossword puzzles, playing pinochle, caring for house plants, loving on her cats and dogs, and making salsa for gifts. Julie also enjoyed quilting and made sure each new baby in the family had one.
Julie is survived by her son, Charlie Hoverson, of Fargo, ND; brothers Dennis (Jo Ann) Monson, and Dean (Carol) Monson, both of Cooperstown; sister-in-law Pam Monson, of Cooperstown; brothers-in-law Allen (Kathy) Hoverson, of Bonita Springs, FL; Randy (Loree) Hoverson, of Sutton, ND; Dean (Gwen) Hoverson, of Fargo, ND; Tim (Ruth) Luther, of Fergus Falls, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
