Gladys I. Anderson

Gladys I. Anderson, 92 of Cooperstown, ND died on January 25, 2025 at the Griggs County Care Center. She was born in Cooperstown, ND on April 18, 1932, the daughter of Effie and John Anderson. Gladys spent her childhood helping out on the family farm. Gladys graduated from Cooperstown High School. 

She attended NDSU and graduated with a B.S. Degree in Home Economics Education. She then taught students at Steele, Hatton, Carrington, and Mandan for ten years. Gladys attended Colorado State University, CO, earned an M.S. degree and was an instructor at Northern Illinois University DeKalb, IL, for 14 years. After moving back to North Dakota to care for her mother, she served as a substitute teacher in Fargo for 18 years. She also volunteered at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. 

Gladys traveled extensively with her sister Betty, visiting many areas including Europe, Africa, Asia, South America, and Antarctica. Gladys enjoyed and spent many hours restoring the family homestead, gardening, crafting, and playing bridge. She loved planning fun family reunions and birthday celebrations, and visiting with her many friends and family

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents Effie (Kindso) and John Anderson, her sisters Helen Freitag, Eunice Owens, Alice Kline, her brother Clifford Anderson and one niece. 

 She is survived by her sister Betty Anderson and 10 nieces and nephews. 

 Memorials may be made to the Griggs County Care Center, Hofva Lutheran Church Cemetery, Trinity Lutheran Church, or the charity of your choice. 

 Visitation will be on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will continue Friday, January 31, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. Internment will be held at a later date at the Hofva Lutheran church cemetery.
