GARY LUNDE

Gary Lunde, Cooperstown, North Dakota passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Dakota Regional Medical Center in Cooperstown, ND.

Gary Martin Lunde was born August 26, 1950 to M. Erling and Dorothy (Tweed) Lunde in Fargo, North Dakota.  He was a 1968 graduate of Cooperstown High School and enrolled in classes at NDSU in Fargo, ND.

Gary entered the Army October 2, 1969 and served time in Vietnam.  He was honorably discharged on July 9, 1971.  When he returned from the service he farmed with his Father and Uncle Roger until he and his brother Mark took over and started M&G Farms.  They continued to farm together until 2000.  Gary started to work at Right-A-Way Applicators in May of 2000 and continued there till July of 2016 when he retired.  He did some driving for V-W Motors, Inc. and also helped Nelson Farms in the Spring and Fall which he enjoyed digging around in the dirt.

Gary and Julie were united in marriage January 17, 1981 at Valley Grove Lutheran Church in Kloten, ND and made their home in Cooperstown where they raised their 3 children Brett, Natalie, and Jesse.

Gary loved ice fishing and was usually the first one out in the fall and last one off in the spring.  He was an avid reader than moved on to watching FOX News and videos on his laptop, mostly NDSU Bison football games.  Gary and Julie enjoyed attending football games in the dome in section 29 and also Frisco when able.

Gary is survived by his wife Julie; son Brett (Lindsey) and children Macy, McKenna, Paisley & Beckett; daughter Natalie and sons Gavin and Drake; son Jesse (Allison); Son-in-law Matthew Nelson; Brother Mark (Nancy), children Krista (Scott) Bauer, Shawn (Alisha); sister Beth (Rodney) Ruzicka and daughter Madison; Uncle David Lunde and Aunt Elaine Tweed and many cousins and friends he enjoyed visiting with at happy hour.  

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Erling And Dorothy, brother Kurt and many other relatives.

The family expresses their thanks to the Cooperstown Ambulance and the DRMC in Cooperstown for assisting with Gary during this time. 

Visitation will be Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 12:00 pm till 1:00 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 pm in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND.  Interment will follow in the Ness Cemetery, Cooperstown, ND with Military Honors.
