GARY J. JACOBSON
Gary James Jacobson, Valley City, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2205 at the age of 56. He was born June 10, 1968 in Mayville, ND the son of James and Marlys (Kainz) Jacobson. Gary attended Finley-Sharon High school and graduated in the class of 1986. He then attended NDSU where he started a co-op program with GSA in Fort Worth, Texas. After graduating from NDSU with a degree in accounting he moved to Texas full time. He worked for GSA for 22 years.
Gary later moved back to North Dakota to be closer to family. He served as the Business Manager for Valley City Public Works for many years. He was blessed to work with truly wonderful people whom he felt were family and was also very proud of his city.
Gary had a kind and gentle soul everyone could not help but love. He was notably quiet but always had a riddle for us to solve or a one liner to make us laugh. He was a proud NDSU alumni and had an undying love for the Bison. He enjoyed attending football games and made several trips to Frisco, including this past January.
Not only did Gary travel to all 50 states, but he traveled the globe. Israel was a highlight as he was passionate about theology and biblical history. He also managed to see most European countries. He was proud he was able to take his parents to explore both Germany and Norway as well as many places in the U.S.
Gary truly never quit learning. He received a master’s degree in theology and was working on this PhD. His passion for learning was fueled by a strong love for the Lord. He lived his life in every way with unwavering faith.
Gary continues to be loved by his father, James Jacobson, brother Scott Jacobson (Cindy Norberg); sisters, Brenda (Glenn) Rethemeier and Chrissie (Craig) Ketelsen, nieces, Amanda Jacobson and Shaylee Kunze; nephews, Kelby Jacobson and Chase Kunze; bonus family, Emily Ketelsen, Johnathan Ketelsen, Ericka Ketelsen, Jason (Annie) Rethemeier, Jon (Leslie), Patrick (Danielle) Rethemeier.
