ELWOOD C. DRONEN

Elwood Carlyle Dronen, 81, of West Fargo, passed away on October 8, 2022, at the Sanford Broadway Center in Fargo ND.

Elwood Carlyle Dronen was born July 1st, 1941, son of Elvin & Emma (Iverson) Dronen in Sharon, ND. He grew up in rural Finley, ND, and graduated from Finley High School in 1959. Elwood was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Faye Hanson in 1960. They raised three daughters together Renae, Karen, and Susan. Elwood was active in the church choir, church council, school board, and bowling league. Among a few of his accomplishments he was proud of winning the doubles ND State championship in bowling and receiving a pin from South Dakota, proving he caught the “whopper walleye.”

 He farmed and raised livestock with his brother Ronald (Kate) Dronen in rural Finley until the summer of 1987. At that time, Elwood & Faye moved to Fargo. He started his career at Roman Meal Milling Company in July 1988 and retired in October 2006.

In 1990 Elwood married Mary Ann Bamberg (Clemensen), and they resided in West Fargo, ND. They enjoyed being winter Texans from 2006 – 2021 in Harlingen, TX. Elwood enjoyed playing golf and entertaining any students willing to listen in his Norwegian College of Knowledge.

Elwood was a very dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He always loved and was proud of his family. Elwood enjoyed hunting in the fall. He especially loved pheasant hunting and deer hunting while being in the great outdoors. Elwood also enjoyed music and loved singing. His most valued treasures were his faith, his family, extended family, and friends.

Elwood was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Emma (Iverson) Dronen, infant sister Marica Ellen Dronen, Wife of 27 years, Faye Luella (Hanson) Dronen, and young daughter Susan Beth Dronen.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Mary (Bamberg-Clemensen) Dronen. Brother: Ronald (Kate) Dronen, Reno NV. Brother-in-law John (Bobbi) Bamberg, Erhard MN.

Shelby (Brady) Bursch, Moorhead, MN. Lana Fulton, West Fargo, ND. Devin Bangs. Raquel (Banyn) Puhr, West Fargo ND. Mona Clemensen, Tucson, AZ. Erin Little, Alexandria MN. Taylor and Austin Clemensen, Morris MN. Evan, Clayton, and Oaklie Clemensen, Abby Kleindl, Madison, WI, Hannah Kleindl, Las Vegas, NV, Luke Eklund, Underwood, MN. Great-Grandchildren: Piper & Dekker Bergstrom, Oliver Wiertzema, Noa Geffre, Jessi and Dylan Fulton, Emitt Erickson, Hadley Bursch, Brantley Puhr, Gabi Wadholm, Juniper Habeck. And Grandpa Elbow’s Special buddy Jett Bamberg.

Elwood also had many nieces, nephews, and extended family that he loved dearly. Elwood held many friends near and dear to his heart.

The funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Lutheran of the Cross Church, West Fargo ND at 10 am. Graveside Burial Service will be held later that day at Finley Cemetery, Finley ND at 2 pm. There will be coffee, snacks, & fellowship following the burial at the Peterson-Olson Post #13 American Legion in Finley ND.

The funeral service will be streamed from Lutheran Church of the Cross, West Fargo ND.
