Elna Marlene Lund-Anderson

Elna Marlene Lund-Anderson, born on August 12, 1940, in Tolna, North Dakota, to Bjarne and Olga Lund, passed away on Thursday December 5th at the Golden Acres Manor. She was 84years old.

Elna grew up on her family’s farm near Tolna, where she developed her strong work ethic and love for rural life. She graduated from Tolna High School in 1958, and on October 2, 1960, she married DuWayne Anderson at Sigdal Lutheran Church in Tolna.

Elna and DuWayne were blessed with two daughters: Brenda and Lynnette. Elna cherished her family and found great joy in being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her two grandchildren, Karisa Stangeland-Polson, married to Dan Polson and Brett Stangeland, held a special place in her heart. She also had the privilege of becoming a great-grandmother to Madelyn and MaKenna Polson, who always brought a huge smile and laughter.

Elna’s working life reflected her versatility and dedication. Her first job was working for Sweeny Brothers in Fargo, ND, and for several years she successfully sold Mary Kay Cosmetics. She was also known for her remarkable skills as a cake baker, creating beautiful creations for many special occasions. However, her true calling was at home, where she took immense pride in her role as a farm wife, supporting DuWayne and their family.

Elna was a long-time member of Mabel Lutheran Church in Sutton, ND, where her faith was an integral part of her life. She believed deeply in the importance of family, community, and service, values that she instilled in her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband DuWayne Anderson, parents, Bjarne and Olga Lund; her sister, Ordis Lund-Sonderby; and husband Ted. and her brother, Harlan Lund and wife Rhoda.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Stangeland (Rod) and Lynnette Anderson (Denise Hadad) her grandchildren, Karisa (Dan Polson) and Brett; her great-grandchildren, Madelyn and MaKenna; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Elna’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in the lives she touched.
