DUWAYNE L. ANDERSON
DuWayne Larry Anderson, born on February 16, 1940, in Cooperstown, North Dakota, to Leonard and Sarah (Hadey) Anderson, passed away at the Golden Acres Manor on November 25, 2024. He was 84 years old.
DuWayne grew up in Cooperstown, where he developed a love for farming and the rural way of life. After graduating from Cooperstown High School in 1958, he attended college in Wahpeton, ND, and returned home to farm alongside his father, Leonard. DuWayne eventually took over the family farm, where he grew wheat, barley, and sunflowers, and raised cattle for many years. He also found joy in raising horses and spent many cherished moments with his daughters on trail rides, camping trips, and at rodeos.
On October 2, 1960, DuWayne married Elna Lund at Sigdal Lutheran Church in Tolna, ND.
Together, they shared 64 years of marriage, raising two daughters, Brenda and Lynnette . DuWayne was a proud and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He deeply adored his grandchildren, Karisa Stangeland-Polson, married to Dan Polson, and Brett Stangeland, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and MaKenna Polson.
DuWayne was actively involved in his community, serving on the school board for the Glenfield Sutton School and other local boards. He was also a dedicated member of Mabel Lutheran Church in Sutton, ND, where he was known for his kind heart and commitment to the community.
Family and friends will fondly remember DuWayne for his unforgettable smile and his sense of humor. He had a unique ability to be fun loving and enjoyed sharing a laugh.
DuWayne is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Sarah Anderson, and his sister,
Marcella Fors. He is survived by his wife, Elna Anderson; his daughters, Brenda Stangeland (Rod) and Lynnette Anderson (Denise Hadad); his grandchildren, Karisa and Brett; his great-grandchildren, Madelyn and MaKenna; his brother, Ronald Anderson; and many other family members and dear friends.
DuWayne’s legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation will be Monday, Dec 2, 2024 from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Mable Lutheran Church, Sutton, ND.
