DOUGLAS A. GRONNEBERG
Douglas Arthur Gronneberg, Cooperstown, ND formerly of Hannaford, ND passed away on April 30th, one day after his 81st birthday in the Griggs County Care Center, Cooperstown, ND.
Douglas was born April 29th,1942, son of Arnold and Christine (Sabby) Gronneberg in Bremerton, WA. When he was five, the family moved back to the homestead near Sutton, ND.
Douglas attended Sutton School and graduated in 1960. In 1964, he was drafted into the army. After his discharge, he returned to ND to help farm until his retirement in 2005.
He was very active in sports and loved to bowl and play horseshoes until diabetics forced him to quit. In 1973, he received the highest bowling score of 289 in league bowling. Douglas was inducted into the Horseshoe Hall of Fame in 1993. He loved to put puzzles together and play cards with friends and family.
He was a member of Eidfjord Lutheran Church until it closed its doors in 2012. He served on the church board, was a deacon, an usher and helped mow the church cemetery for decades.
After moving off the farm, Douglas moved into Cooperstown until he went into the Nursing Home.
Douglas is survived; by his brother, Lee (Tina Olson) Valley City and his sister Sandra Francis, West Fargo, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol. Doug will be greatly missed and forever loved by all his nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Friday, May 5th from 1:00 to 2:00 followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown, ND. Interment will be in the Eidfjord Cemetery, rural Walum, ND.
