Dorothy Mae Lura, 87, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018 in Eventide on Eighth Nursing Home in Moorhead, MN under hospice care.

Dorothy was born February 2, 1931 in Cooperstown, ND to Herman and Thelma (Eide) Solfield. She attended country school in Griggs County and then graduated from Cooperstown High School, class of 1949.

Dorothy got her degree as a registered nurse in 1952 at the St Lukes’ School of Nursing and worked in that occupation in Cooperstown before being united in marriage to James Lura on March 8, 1953 in Cooperstown. The couple farmed in the Cooperstown area for many years before moving into Cooperstown in 1996.

Dorothy enjoyed scrapbooking, baking, reading, gardening, quilting, playing cards, fishing and laughing with family and friends.

Dorothy is survived by her husband James, Valley City, ND; children Denise (Chris) Childs, Silverton, OR; Janel (Joe Banister) Lura, Fargo, ND; Sandra (Robert) Kantola, Fargo, ND; Mark (Vickie) Lura, Sanborn, ND; grandsons Austin Lura and Collin Lura; sisters Janice Solfield, Cooperstown, ND and Carol (Leon) Roesler, Leonard, ND; and numerous nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm with a Prayer Service at 7 pm Wednesday, March 28, 2018 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND.  Visitation will continue from 10-11 am followed by a Funeral at 11 am Thursday, March 29, 2018 in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND. Interment will be in the Cooperstown Cemetery.
