DENIS A. GUNDERSON

Denis A. Gunderson, 85, Cooperstown, ND passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Griggs County Care Center.

  Denis was born August 17, 1934 in Cooperstown, ND the son of Gilbert and Judith (Halvig) Gunderson.  He grew up in the Cooperstown area and attended school in Cooperstown.  He worked for the Griggs County Highway Dept. for 46 years,  He married Ruth Gustafson February 17, 1963, making their home in Cooperstown.

  He loved to hunt, fish, trap; anything to do with the outdoors.  He passed his love for hunting and fishing to all his children and grandchildren.  After retiring he enjoyed taking road trips around the country side.  He always had a story to tell about the roads he helped build.

  He is survived by his wife, Ruth, sons, Darrel (Kathy) Las Vegas, NV; Rodney, Fargo, ND; Scott, Hatton, ND; Renee, Fargo, ND; four grandsons, Garret (Kimmy) CA; Jacob (Nikki) Fort Collins, CO; Ivan (Danielle) Hatton, ND; Lewis, Hatton, ND; two sisters, Doris Blaz, MT; Lorraine (Jerry) Peterson, Moorhead, MN; brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Anna Splittsoesser, MN; brother-in-law, Marvin Myers, Cooperstown, ND; sister-in-law, Adeline Gustafson, Aneta, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.

  Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Judith; infant daughter, Denise; brother, Gilmer; sister June Dahl; brothers-in-law, Tom Blaz and Douglas Dahl.

  Visitation will be from 5–7 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2020 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND.  Visitation will continue from 10 – 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 23, 2020 in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND.  Interment will be in the Ottawa Cemetery, rural Aneta, ND.
