CONNIE RAMSEY
Connie Mae (Bork) Ramsey, age 76, passed away peacefully at home in Hannaford, ND, on July 5, 2021, due to pancreatic cancer. Connie was born in Cooperstown, ND, on July 3, 1945, the only child of Conrad & Emma (Larson) Bork. She was baptized & confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown. She attended Cooperstown Elementary School & High School and graduated in 1963. After graduation she attended ND School of Science in Wahpeton, ND, and obtained an Advanced Stenography Degree.
With her new degree in hand, she began working at New York Life Insurance and later Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. On December 7, 1968, she married her best friend Orville Ramsey of Hannaford at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown. They began their life together in Fargo, and one by one they added four daughters to their family. In the early years of their marriage, Connie worked at Swanston Equipment Company in Fargo as an Administrative Assistant. After becoming a stay-at-home mom to her daughters, Connie continued to use her secretarial skills to support Orville in his work as a farmer and the owner of Ramsey Sand & Gravel.
In 1979 they began construction on a house in Hannaford, where they camped in the driveway in a little camper with their young girls while the house was being built. When the daughters grew up and left home, Connie went to work at Farmers Oil Company & Northern Plains in Hannaford. Eventually, she retired to dedicate her time to being a full-time grandma. She took great interest in the activities of her grandchildren and took every opportunity to share photos, videos, and news of their accomplishments.
Connie was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hannaford where she had taught Sunday School, Bible School and was on Church Council. During her illness, Connie had much time to reflect upon the scriptures and God’s goodness toward her, and she was ready to go home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, her mother- and father-in-law Alvin & Ruth Ramsey, sisters-in-law Arlene Himmerich (husband Ephriam) and Delores Haugen (husband Robert), and nephew Jeffrey Himmerich.
Connie is survived by Orville, her husband of 53 years, and their four daughters: Jill (John) Schumacher of Reynolds, ND; Shanna (Peter) Stromsodt of Moorhead, MN; Stacey (Endre) Aarestad of Cooperstown, ND, and Collette (Owen) Dramstad of Harwood, ND.
Connie was most proud of her 13 grandchildren: Ellie, Josie and Zane Schumacher; Zachary, Faith, Hope, Grant and Daniel Stromsodt; Carter, Emma and Anika Aarestad; and Ruth and Laura Dramstad.
Connie is also survived by sisters-in-law Sharon (John) Grover, and Peg Roy, and brothers-in-law Dennis (Sue) Ramsey, and Steve Ramsey, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
