Charles Duane Stromsodt

Charles Duane Stromsodt, 92, of Cooperstown, ND passed away Thursday, November 9^th, 2023, surrounded by his family at Griggs County Care Center. Charles was born in rural Sharon, ND on April 29^th, 1931, to Siebert and May (Christopherson) Stromsodt. He was raised on the farm in the Sharon area and attended rural school. He farmed with his father prior to enlisting in the Army in 1953 and was stationed in Iceland at the end of the Korean war conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1955. Following his military service, he worked as a carpenter for Braumberger construction in Grand Forks and later as a welder for Melroe Manufacturing for many years he owned his own carpentry business, Custom Construction for many years before retiring.

As an avid hunter and outdoorsman, he harvested many deer, antelope and even moose during his lifetime. He preferred to hunt with muzzleloaders and competed in muzzleloader competitions for many years. He also had a business, Custom Reloading and Supply. He shared his love of hunting and muzzleloader competition with his brothers Sherman and LeRoy and their children. He enjoyed traveling to the state to many muzzleloader competitions with his brother Sherman and his family. Above all, he loved spending time with his nephew, nieces, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Peter and Christina Stromsodt, Charles and Christina Christopherson; parents, Siebert and May Stromsodt; brother, LeRoy Stromsodt, Sherman Stromsodt and great-great nephew William Michael Stromsodt and great-great niece Olivia Faith Stromsodt.

He is survived by his nephew Scott (Teresa) Stromsodt of Bismarck, ND; great-nephews Nick (Laura) Stromsodt of Fischer, MN; Eric (Katie) Stromsodt; niece Tracy (John) Puttre of Sullivan, WI great-nieces Lindsay (Jim) Pratt of Jefferson, WI and Stephanie Puttre of Sullivan, WI; niece Sharon (George) Maertens of Cooperstown, ND; great-nieces Christina (Trevor) Pikula of Menagha, MN; Jennifer Maertens of Cooperstown, ND; great-nephews Matthew (Amanda) Maertens of Cooperstown, ND;  Michael(Danielle) Maertens of Cooperstown, ND; great-nieces Michayla (Andrew) Birrenkott of Steele, ND; Abbigail Maertens of Fargo, ND; nieces Laurie Knutson of Glyndon, MN; great-nieces JoAnna and Leah Knutson of Fargo, ND and Rhonda Gaden of Fargo, ND; great-nephews Brandon and Dalton Gaden of Fargo, ND and many great-great nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation at Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home on November 14^th, 2023, from 5-7pm. Funeral services on Wednesday, November 15^th at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Ringsaker Cemetery in rural Griggs County.
