BRUCE L. GRONNEBERG
Bruce LeRoy Gronneberg, age 72, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 29, 2020 in his home in Cooperstown, ND.
Bruce was born August 23, 1947 in Valley City, ND to Clarence and Della (Anderson) Gronneberg. He attended school in Sutton, ND through sixth grade and then moved with his family to Cooperstown, ND where he graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1965. He attended North Dakota State University for four years and became an avid Bison fan. He continued to be a Bison fan throughout his lifetime. Bruce married ReNae Marie Pekas on March 18, 1972 at Hope Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. Together they had three wonderful sons; Jayson, Jeff and Jayme.
Bruce farmed in rural Sutton, ND. He enjoyed sharing his love of farming with his sons and was proud to have Jayson take over the farm. He continued to work on the farm in his retirement years. In his lifetime he was also a seed salesman and he enjoyed meeting many people throughout his career in sales.
Bruce was an avid sports fan and enjoyed sports of all kinds including bowling and golf. He instilled a love of sports and competition in his three sons. He was a master bowler and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play in their sporting events. He was proud of all of his children and grandchildren and loved to talk about them with others. He always made sure that they were taken care of and asked many questions about their lives most every day. Bruce had a fun sense of humor and he loved to share it with his family and others, telling them jokes and kidding around with them. He had a soft, loving heart for all animals and treasured the pets that he had throughout his lifetime. Bruce was also a stock market enthusiast and shared his knowledge of the stock market with family and friends any time that he could.
Bruce is survived by his three sons: Jayson (Cia) Gronneberg of Cooperstown, ND, Jeff (Alecia) Gronneberg of Prior Lake, MN; Jayme (Jennifer) Gronneberg of Albertville, MN; sister Benda (Steve) Berseth of Brookings, SD; grandchildren Emmee, Hunter, Jaxon and Jersey of Cooperstown, ND; Kole, Xander and Knox of Prior Lake, MN; and Stella and Grayden of Albertville, MN.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Della, and granddaughter, Sophia.
Visitation will be 5-7pm with a Prayer Service at 7 pm Thursday, March 5, 2020 in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will continue Friday, March 6, 2020 in the Church followed by a funeral service at 11 am. Interment will be in the Spring at Cooperstown Cemetery, Cooperstown, ND.
