ALLAN STOKKA
Allan Stokka, 84, Hannaford, ND died Wednesday, October 17, 2018 in the Griggs County Care Center, Cooperstown, ND.
Allan Ira Stokka was born to Arnt and Inga (Stadum) Stokka on April 18, 1934. Allan grew up, lived and worked on their farm in Broadview Township until his retirement in 2009. He continued his love of farming by assisting neighboring farmers. He attended school in Hannaford and graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School. He served in the ND National Guard. On October 24, 1959, he was united in marriage to Margaret Liljenquist. Their marriage was blessed with six children, five of whom survived to adulthood. Allan’s life was marked by a deep love of family, farming, and serving his Lord in so many ways. His quiet, steady leadership served not only him but those who had the privilege of working alongside of him. Working cattle, harvesting grain, taking his family fishing or water skiing, snow skiing, and visiting children and grandchildren would always bring out that boyish smile both recognized and loved by so many. He never tired of saddling up the horses or pulling grandkids in circles in the snow. During his farming years, he served on the Hannaford School Board, Griggs County Social Service Board for 30 years, Cooperstown Bible Camp Board, Gideons International, and in many roles at Saron Evangelical Free Church.
Allan is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Margaret; David (Lauri) of Bismarck, Louise (Bill) Rindy of Mesa, AZ, John of Wausau, WI, Sylvia (Kelly) Christianson of Roseau, MN, Peter (Sharon) of Kaneohe, HI, 14 grandchildren: Melissa (Tyson) Kramer, Joshua (Maren) Stokka, Heidi (Chulaka) Senanayake, Brianna (Ian) McGurran, Kristina (Adam) Aikens, Tyler Stokka, Kylie (Kyle) Belan, Kaitlyn Christianson, McKayla Christianson, Carter Christianson, Karina Christianson, Torik Stokka; 4 great-grandchildren: McKinley Stokka, Canyon Stokka, Ashton Senanayake, and Jade McGurran.
