Ruth C. Anderson

RUTH C. ANDERSON Ruth Christine Olson was born July 10, 1908 to Nels and Hannah (Schultz) Olson in Benson, MN. She passed away peacefully at the nursing home in Cooperstown, ND, on October 1, 2010. Ruth married Gerald Anderson on August 27, 1932 and to that union was born three sons, Gerald Jr., Richard and James. Ruth moved to a farm east of Walum, ND at a very young age. She attended grade school in Walum and later went to high school in Hannaford where she graduated in 1927. Ruth lived almost her entire adult life in Hannaford where she was active in many functions at the Faith Lutheran Church, was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, sat on election boards for 50 plus years, bowled on the Speed Queens bowling team, and worked at various stores until finally retiring at the age of 93 after cooking at the Striking Lanes for 30 years !! She enjoyed watching high school basketball games, having coffee at the bowling alley, playing Yahtzee and bingo, doing crossword puzzles, making donuts, watching cartoons with her great grandchildren, and taking care of all of us. Ruth was a real Christian and loved everyone, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Hannah Olson; her husband, Gerald; infant sister, Christine; two brothers, Richard and Alfred; twins, Chester and Gladys and a son Jerry. She is survived by two sons, Richard (Janice) Anderson, Surprise, AZ; James (Wanda) Anderson, Dickinson, ND; five grandchildren; eight grandchildren and all the people living in and around Hannaford, ND. Funeral Services will be held, Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 10:30 am in Faith Lutheran Church in Hannaford, ND. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be held Tuesday at 7:00 in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Faith Cemetery, Hannaford, ND.
