LORRAINE W. DRAMSTAD Lorraine Wanetha Dramstad went home to her Lord and Savior Friday, October 1, 2010 in the Cooperstown Medical Center Nursing Home in Cooperstown, ND at the age of 89. Lorraine was born January 18, 1921 at Hudson, WI the only child of Peter and Ida (Anderson) Arneson. She was baptized at Gilman Lutheran Church March 6th, 1921, rural Spring Valley WI. She was confirmed there June 30, 1935. Lorraine attended Chrystal School in Rosemount, Twsp, McLean County, ND the first six grades. In 1933 her family moved to Wisconsin because of her mother’s health. She graduated 8th grade at Ellsworth, WI. Her family moved to Spring Valley, WI where she graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1939. After graduation she attended Rasmuson Business College in St. Paul, MN for one year. At the age of 15 her mother passed away and 10 months later her father died. She was reared by different aunts and uncles between Spring Valley, WI, St. Paul, MN and family friends in Sutton, ND. She met her future husband of 67 years in Sutton. They were married October 12, 1941 in the Mabel Lutheran Church, Sutton, ND. Harry passed away April 27, 2009. Harry and Lorraine lived on the Myer Farm in Kingsley Twsp. and in Cooperstown for a short time. In 1947 they bought and moved to the Colver Farm in Clearfield Twsp. (rural Binford, ND) where they lived and farmed until selling the farm in 1966. In the summer of 1966 they bought the former Crane Johnson Lumber Yard and started Sutton Lumber and Supply. They built a new home on the west side of town. Lorraine, as she did on the farm took care of the bookkeeping and helped with the business. They sold the lumber yard in 1971 and moved to Milwaukee, WI where Harry attended Concordia College receiving his Lay Ministry degree. From 1973 to 1977 they lived in Jamison, NE then from 1977 to 1990 in Baudette, MN where she fulfilled the role of Pastor’s wife. Retiring in 1990 they moved back to their favorite place, Sutton, ND where they lived until moving to the Southside Apartments in Cooperstown, ND. She entered the Cooperstown Medical Center Nursing Home in June of 2009. Lorraine enjoyed playing cards, hunting in Jamison, NE, fishing at Lake of the Woods, visiting with family and friends and whether it be a friend, family member or a stranger you didn’t leave without having coffee, lunch or dinner. Lorraine’s concern for other people was always evident. Even when she faced serious health issues she wouldn’t worry about herself but others even if she didn’t know them. She would always ask “are you alright?” Through the years she was mother first, housewife, bookkeeper and helped her husband with woodworking crafts. In 1985 she was nominated outstanding woman of the community in Baudette, MN by the Lake of the Woods Jaycee Women. The family would like to thank her friends at the Southside Apartments for the friendship and kindness while living there. Also everyone that works at the Cooperstown Medical Center Hospital and Nursing Home. She always said, “They all treat me so nice”. Lorraine’s entire life evolved around her faith in her Lord and Savior. She was very active in Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Aide, serving as secretary and treasurer, Sunday school teacher, Clearfield Homemakers Club, Sutton Senior Citizens, President of Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aide in Jamison, NE. Lorraine is survived by; three sons, Russel (Leann), Huron, SD; Roger (Melissia), Osseo, MN; Duane (Julie), Binford, ND; brother-in-law, Ed (Sylvia) Dramstad, Osseo, MN; sister-in-law, Evelyn (Darold) Anderson, Fargo, ND; eleven grandchildren, Michael (Tammy) Dramstad; Matthew Dramstad his friend Jackie Tschetter; Michael (Vickie) Frye; Tammy (Bryan) Nelson; Sherri Kafka; Melissa (Cory) Hayes; Alena (Greg) Clark; Andrew Dramstad; Kelley (Missy) Dramstad; Dustin Dramstad his friend Debbie Lacina; Amber Monson; nineteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; four brothers-in-law, Albert, Sigrud, Martin and Bjarne; one sister-in-law, Esther Lundeen and several aunts and uncles. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 10:30 in the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Binford, ND. Visitation will be held Weds. from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be held Weds at 7:00 in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery.
