Freda C. Sletten

FREDA SLETTEN Freda Sletten, 78 of Aneta, ND died Thursday, September 2, 2010; at her farm home rural Aneta, ND. Freda Corrine Engen was born September 11, 1931 on the family farm near Finley, ND the daughter of Fritz and Caroline (Dokken) Engen. She grew up and attended rural school in Golden Lake Twsp. and graduated from Finley High School in 1949. She married Arnold Sletten at the home farm June 24, 1951. The couple farmed for several years. Their first son Steven Arnold was born in 1954. Arnold was drafted in 1955 and moved his young family to Killeen TX. Late in the summer of 1956 they returned to the farm near Aneta, ND. In 1957 Scott Gary Sletten was born surviving only hours. In 1961 Jon Owen Sletten was born. In 1964 the only daughter Kristi Faye Sletten was born and in 1965 Paul Engen Sletten was born. Throughout the years Freda was a Sunday School Teacher, was active in Ladies Aide, assisted 4-H groups, was an avid reader, loved history, especially genealogy and also reading her daily devotions. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 59 years Arnold, Aneta, ND; three sons, Steven (Marie) Sletten, Hebron, ND, Jon (Jackie) Sletten, Aneta, ND, Paul Sletten, Aneta, ND; daughter Kristi Bina,, Aneta, ND; brother, Jerry Engen , Staples, MN; sister, Julie (Peter) Oberholtzer, Altoona, WI; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the Ottawa Lutheran Church, rural Aneta, ND.
