Errling Lunde

ERLING LUNDE Erling Lunde 87, of Cooperstown, ND passed away August 25, 2010 at Sanford Health of Fargo, ND. Marcus Erling Lunde was born July 21, 1923 near Cooperstown, ND the son of Martin and Sophia (Gilbertson) Lunde. He grew up and attended rural school near Cooperstown and graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1941. Erling farmed until October of 1941 when he entered the US Army. He trained as a heavy weapons crewman with the 1st Calvary. He was stationed in Japan as part of the US occupation force. He was discharged February 16, 1948. He returned to the Cooperstown area where he started farming. Erling married Dorothy Tweed January 22, 1950. The couple farmed in the Cooperstown area. They lived in town until the mid 1970’s when they moved to a farm east of Cooperstown. In 1997 they moved back to Cooperstown. Dorothy passed away September 14, 2005. Erling continued to make his home in Cooperstown. Erling enjoyed mowing his yard, fishing, his grandchildren and great grandchildren and work work, work. He is survived by two sons, Gary (Julie) Lunde and Mark (Nancy) Lunde, both of Cooperstown, ND; one daughter Beth (Rodney) Ruzicka, Valley City, ND; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one brother, David (Carolyn) Lunde, Cooperstown, ND. Erling was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Sophia; his wife, Dorothy; son Kurt; brother, Roger; two sisters Carol Brooks and Muriel Lunde. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 30, 2010 at 10:30 am in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and continue one hour before services in the church. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 pm Sunday in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Ness, Cemetery, rural Cooperstown, ND.
