DOROTHY WAGONER Dorothy Eileen Wagoner, 93 of Sutton, ND passed away April 20, 2010 in the Cooperstown Medical Center Nursing Home in Cooperstown, ND, in the care of her family. Dorothy Eileen Starr was born February 16, 1917 in Fargo, ND the daughter of Albert and Ida (Jackson) Starr of Sutton, ND. She lived a full and long life in Sutton, ND with her husband of 39 years, Boyd Calvin Wagoner. They married August 17, 1940 in Valley City, ND. They bought a farm east of Sutton where she resided until she entered the Nursing Home in September of 2008. Two sons were born to Boyd and Dorothy, Dick Calvin Wagoner, October 1, 1943 and Don Leroy Wagoner, July 8, 1948. Dorothy attended Valley City College and received her Standard Teaching Certificate with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology. Dorothy’s first teaching position was a rural school in Bald Hill Township. She later received her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and a Special Education Certificate for Reading Disabilities. She continued teaching for 38 years in Sutton, Glenfield-Sutton and Glenfield-Sutton-McHenry Public Schools. She spent her teaching years enlightening many students in the lower elementary grades. Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Don and Dick his wife Cynthia both of Sutton, ND; two grandchildren, Michael (Penny Bolstad) Wagoner, Sutton, ND and Michelle Wagoner, Fargo, ND; two step granddaughters, Heather Jonson, Mandan, ND and Sherry (Brad) Schmidt, Flasher, ND; one great granddaughter,, Landrie Schmidt; a sister, Delores (Roger) Carpenter, Pelican Rapids, MN; sister-in-law, Priscella (Roy) Slotten, Longview, WA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Boyd and grandson Gary Joseph Wagoner. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 26, 2010 at 10:30 am in the Mabel Lutheran Church in Sutton, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be held Sunday at 7:00 in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Jamestown, ND at 1:00 pm Monday.
