EVELYN G. OLSON Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 10:30 am in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday starting at 9:00. Interment will be in the Ringsaker Cemetery at a later date. Evelyn Olson, 95, of Cooperstown, ND, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 in the Cooperstown Medical Center Nursing Home. Evelyn was born March 9, 1915 at Cooperstown, ND the daughter of Hans and Julia (Scramstad) Rasmusson. She graduated from Hannaford High School in 1933 and received her standard teaching certificate from Mayville State Teachers College in 1937. She taught rural schools in Wells and Griggs Counties for seven years and truly cherished her time with her special students and farm families. Her family heard many wonderful school stories throughout the years. Evelyn married Garfield L. Olson December 27, 1941 in Detroit Lakes, MN. They farmed in Romness Township for many years and retired to Cooperstown in 1977. Garfield passed away November 14, 1988. Evelyn lived at the Cooperstown Medical Center/Nursing Home for the past six years of her life. Evelyn truly loved the country life and neighbors in Romness Township. She spent much time enjoying the animals, gardening, the outdoors, cooking, baking, canning, reading and quilting. She had a deep love for learning and was always reading books, maps, and historical stories/documents. Evelyn is survived by: one daughter, Jeannie (Larry) Orke, Bottineau, ND; three sons, Gale (Rose), Laughlin, NV; Richard (Esther), Rapid City, SD; Deane, Grand Forks, ND: seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren: one brother, Garfield Rasmusson, Mesa, AZ: two half sisters, Marilyn Bergmark, Blaine, MN and Lorraine Loewen, Loveland, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Laura; two sisters, Signe and Eunice; two brothers, Warren and Orville and stepbrother Philip.
