Jacqueline (Jackie) Lee Washburn

JACQUELINE (JACKIE) WASHBURN Jacqueline (Jackie) Lee Washburn, Hope, ND, 76, died in her home south west of Hope, ND under the care of Hospice of the Red River with her family at her side, September 10, 2017. Jackie was born January 20, 1941 in Hope, ND the daughter of Neil and Ethel (Johnson) McKay. She attended school in Pillsbury, ND and graduated from Pillsbury High School. In 1960 she married Jerry Jacobsen in Page, ND; they had three children, Scotty Neil, Judy Jo, and Kristy Kay. Kristy passed away at the age of 3. In 1980 she married Reed Washburn, the couple farmed for several years before retiring. Jackie was a member of the Handy Homemakers Club for years and was a member of the bowling team for 35 years. Jackie owned and operated an Upholstery Shop on the farm near Hope for over 30 years. She loved going to town for coffee in the morning and seeing everybody. Jackie is survived by her husband, Reed, Hope, ND; son, Scotty (Debra) Jacobsen, Anchorage, AK; daughter, Judy (Kirby) Voltz, Clifford, ND; step children, Greg and Teresa Washburn, Grand Forks, ND, Laurice VanZee, Galesburg, ND, Lesley Washburn, Burnsville, MN; sister, Connie (Bob) Ihry, West Fargo, ND; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Neil and Ethel McKay; daughter, Kristy Kay; sisters, Donna and twin sister, Judy; nephew, Mark Ihry; brother-in-law, Jerry Washburn and son-in-law, Clair VanZee. We would like to thank the community for all the kind words, cards, visits and food that was brought out to the farm. A very, very big thank you to a special friend of Jackie’s, Pedo Tretter for all her visits and help. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 2:00 pm in St. Agatha’s Catholic Church, Hope, ND. Interment will be in the Hope Cemetery, Hope, ND.
