SHERMAN STROMSODT Sherman Stromsodt, 80, of Cooperstown, ND passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 surrounded by his family at Nelson County Care Center. Sherman was born in rural Sharon, ND on January 26th, 1936 to Seibert and May (Christopherson) Stromsodt. He was raised on the farm in the Sharon area and attended rural school. On May 14, 1960 he married Alice Grafsgaard of McHenry. The couple lived in rural Cooperstown. Sherman enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1961 and served until 1966. He was activated during the Berlin crisis and served as a medic in the pediatric ward of the Fort Riley base hospital in Riley, Kansas. Sherman worked as a carpenter for Braumberger construction and later began working for Great Plains Lumber and Supply of Finley as the assistant manger until transferring to the Wimbledon store in 1966 as manager. He returned to the Finley store as manager in 1980. He continued as the manager when Great Plains was sold and became Finley Lumber and Supply. He semi retired in 1997 and continued as a consultant for several years until he completely retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking, but especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren He is preceded in death by his grandparents Peter and Christina Stromsodt, Charles and Christina Christopherson; parents, Siebert and May Stromsodt; brother, LeRoy Stromsodt and great-grandson William Michael Stromsodt. He is survived by his wife Alice; children, Scott (Teresa) Stromsodt of Bismarck and Tracy (John) Puttre of Sullivan, WI; grandchildren, Lindsay (Jim) Pratt of Jefferson, WI, Nicholas (Laura) Stromsodt of Fischer, MN, Stephanie Puttre of Sullivan, WI and Eric Stromsodt of Three Forks, MT; great grandchildren, Hailey and Piper Pratt; brother, Charles Stromsodt of Cooperstown; a very special niece Sharon (George) Maertens of Cooperstown and numerous extended family members. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-7 p.m. in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Wednesday 6:30 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday 11:00 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown, ND. Interment will be in the Ringsaker Cemetery, rural Cooperstown, ND at 1:15.
