MARY M. IHRY

MARY MARGARET IHRY Mary M. Ihry, 65 of Hope, ND, passed away peacefully at her home after an 8 ½ month battle with kidney cancer. Mary Margaret was born September 27, 1950 in Sharon, ND, the fourth of five children born to Margaret (Fronk) Tretter and Andrew Tretter. Mary grew up in rural Hope and graduated from Hope Public School in May of 1968. She attended the New York Hairdressing Academy Beauty School in Fargo, ND. On May 23, 1970, Mary married Gary Lee Ihry. Gary was the love of her life, as the two have never been apart, growing up only miles away from each other and riding the same school bus together. They were blessed with 3 daughters, Dawn Marie, Kimberly Kay and Karla Jean. In September of 1990, they fostered a son, Shane Ryder Larck, and he has been a part of the family ever since. Mary worked in Fargo and then worked in Hope. She purchased a salon in 1978 and renamed to it Mary’s Cut & Curl. She sold her business in 1993 and became a licensed agent for Ihry Insurance in 1994. She continued to work there until she silently retired in 2009. Mary also taught many years of CCD at St. Agatha’s Parish. Mary loved to spend time with her family. She also enjoyed bowling, fishing, crocheting, sewing, gardening, canning and especially spending time with her young nieces, nephews and grandchildren and teaching them to play cards. In her later years, she loved their home in Arizona, especially with her friends and family. Mary is survived by her husband, the love of her life for 46 years, Gary Ihry, Hope, ND; 3 daughters, Dawn Marie (Matthew) Huffman, Lisbon, ND, Kimberly Kay (Jeffrey) Schneider, Langdon, ND, and Karla Jean (Bryan) Gerhardt, Woodbury, MN; one son, Shane Ryder (Jerilyn) Larck, Page, ND; 11 grandchildren, brothers, Dick (Pedo) Tretter of Hope, ND, Jerry Tretter of Fargo, ND and Jim (Emmy) Tretter of Fairmount, ND and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Margaret; and a brother Robert; and in-laws, Adolph and Ardis Ihry. Funeral services will be Monday, July 11, 2016 at 10:00 am in St. Agatha’s Catholic Church in Hope, ND. Visitation will be Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 5:00 till 7:00 in St. Agatha’s Catholic Church, Hope, ND and one hour before services in the Church. Interment will be in the Hope Cemetery, Hope, ND. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Hospice of The Red River Valley, Roger Maris Cancer Center or the Hope Cemetery.
