Margaret E. Dreher

MARGARET DREHER Margaret Dreher, 96, passed away at the Griggs County Care Center, Cooperstown, ND, on May 24, 2016. Margaret Gluesing was born on October 19, 1919, to Chris and Edith Gluesing at Juanita, ND. They later moved to McHenry, ND, where Margaret graduated High School in 1937. She went to work for the Burkes in Carrington, ND. She married Lester Dreher, Grace City, ND on February 14, 1941 at her parent’s home in McHenry. She lived with her parents while Lester was in the Army from 1942-1946. Upon his return, they lived and farmed at McHenry. They moved to Poplar Court in Carrington in 2008. Lester passed away on December 31, 2009. Margaret continued to live at Poplar Court until January, 2013, when she moved to the Griggs County Care Center. She was very active in Band Mothers, which helped raise money for the McHenry School Band. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and also was a 60 plus year member of the American Legion Auxiliary McHenry. Margaret loved to entertain. The coffee was always on and the cookie jar was always full. Nobody left her house without something to eat. She enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables. Margaret will be missed by her daughter, Carolyn Bakke, Binford, ND; son, Douglas (Anne) Dreher, Devils Lake, ND; grandchildren, Doug (Becky) Bakke, Fargo, ND, Scott Bakke, Fargo, ND, and Matthew Bakke, Fargo, ND; great granddaughters, Elise Bakke and Eva Rose Starke. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Lester; her parents; brother, Gordon; and son-in-law, Jim Bakke. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May, 28, 2016 at 3 PM in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, McHenry, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, May 27 from 5 till 7 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, ND, and one hour prior to services in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, McHenry, ND. A Prayer Service will be held at 7 PM in Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, ND. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery, McHenry, ND.
