Alvin “Al” Boe, 92, Colorado Springs CO, a long time resident of Cooperstown, ND, Audubon, MN, and Bemidji, MN, passed from this earth April 19, 2016. Alvin Thomas Boe was born September 8, 1923, to Thomas and Edith (Anderson) Boe. He grew up on a farm west of Cooperstown, ND, and graduated from Cooperstown HS in 1941. While there he participated in many sports and held the long jump record for several decades. He graduated from North Dakota State University where he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. Al served in WWII in the Army Air Corp as a B-29 navigator. Al married Myrleen Lura in Cooperstown, ND, on August 29th 1948. He managed the Shepard Farmer’s Elevator. Later they moved into Cooperstown and he worked for Reiten Manufacturing which later was bought by Melroe. He was very proud of being named Melroe’s first “Man of the Year” in 1973. Al and Myrleen had two sons, Tom and Scott. Al was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Masonic Temple in Cooperstown, as well as serving on the Cooperstown City Council. The lasting memory of all the people he had contact with was his ability to make everyone laugh. After Myrleen passed Al married a high school classmate, Lorraine Lunde Edland on April 27th, 1985. Al was preceded in death by his parent’s Thomas and Edith, wives Myrleen and Lorraine, his brother Edsel, sisters Arla, Audry, and Ester who died in infancy. He is survived by his children Dr. Thomas (Constance) Boe, San Tan Valley, AZ, and Scott (Kathy) Boe, Colorado Springs, CO, his grandchildren Timothy, Corey, Kristin, Katie, and Robbie Boe, and his great grandchildren Hannah and Thomas Boe. A graveside service will be held Saturday September 10, 2016 at 4:00 pm in the Cooperstown Cemetery followed by a reception at the Cooperstown Country Club, Cooperstown, ND.
