DOROTHY L. JACOBSON Dorothy L. Jacobson, 95, Finley, ND, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. Dorothy was born in Fargo, ND, on June 2, 1920, the fourth daughter of Edgar and Florence (Link) Milligan of Hope, ND. They moved to Butte, Montana a couple years after Dorothy was born. When Dorothy was 5 years old, her mother died. Dorothy and her 3 sisters returned to ND and were raised in Hope and later in Finley by their maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C.S. Moores. She graduated from Finley High School in 1938. Dorothy and Tom Jacobson were married September 5, 1939 in Iowa. They lived on the family farmstead east of Finley until Tom’s death on April 30, 1997. Dorothy moved into an apartment in Finley that fall where she lived an active life until becoming ill and was hospitalized January 24th. On February 5th, she entered Luther Memorial Home. Dorothy was a long time member of Ostervold Church, rural Finley. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, playing cards, and was an avid reader, listening to “talking books’ when her eyesight began to fail. She is survived by her son, Mark (Diane) Jacobson of Hope, ND; 3 grandchildren, Deanna (Paul) Odne, Wendy Holkesvig, and Brian (Traci) Jacobson; 8 great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Justin, and Ella Holkesvig; Addyson, Kaylee and Liam Jacobson; and Owen and Keegan Odne. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Nancy Powell; and three sisters, Elizabeth Eide, Edna Olson, and Florence Long. Funeral services will be Friday, February 19, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Finley Lutheran Church, Finley, ND. Visitation will be Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Finley Lutheran Church, Finley, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Thursday at 7:00 pm in the Church. Interment will be in the Ostervold Cemetery.
