ORVILLE D. KALVIK Orville Kalvik passed away peacefully Sunday, January 18, 2015 in Fargo, ND after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Orville was born May 6, 1935 near Hannaford, ND the son of Olaf and Dora (Haugen) Kalvik. He grew up and attended school in the Hannaford area. He was baptized and confirmed in the Union Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. He married Agnes Aaserud June 12, 1965, in the Trinity Lutheran Church (Roseville) near Portland; this union was blessed with 2 sons, Arlen and Keith. The couple made their home on the Kalvik home farm until retiring in 2007 when they moved to Fargo. Orville farmed and worked at Melroe, Sheyenne Tooling both in Cooperstown, ND and later at the Finley Bakery. Orville was a great musician, playing the violin and accordion. Losing parts of some finger did not stop the playing. He was still entertaining this past summer. He played for years with the “Neighbors”. Orville will long be remembered as a clever joker and had a contagious laugh. Orville is survived by his two sons, Arlen (Roberta Hanson-Kalvik), Ashby, MN, Keith of Fargo, ND whom he has made his home with since the death of Agnes; sister, Doris Girling, St. Paul, MN, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Orville was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Inga Larson; brother, Eugene; brothers-in-law, Howard Larson, Johnny Rondstvedt and Melvin Girling. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials go towards funeral expense or Union Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Union Lutheran Church, Hannaford, ND. Visitation will be Friday, January 23, 2015 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Friday in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery.
