SANDRA HANSON Sandra “Sandy” Jean Hanson, 64, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview in Minneapolis, MN. Sandy was born to Alex and Jean (Emmerich) Tretter on June 6, 1950 in Hope, ND. She grew up on the family farm near Hope. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Agatha's Catholic Church. She graduated from Hope High School in 1968, and attended school at Dunphy Associates in Fargo. Her first job was at Super Value Corporate Office in Fargo. On April 2, 1971 she married Gerald Hanson, and they shared 43 years together. In 1975 they moved back to the family farm in Hannaford, ND. Sandy worked as an administrative assistant at Hannaford Public School and Griggs County Central School in Cooperstown, ND for a total of 27 years. Sandy enjoyed her job and had a special place in her heart for each and every student and faculty member that walked through the doors. “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life". Sandy enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, and any sport or function her grandchildren were involved in. Whether it was football, basketball, volleyball, hockey, track meets, cattle shows to fashion shows she would be there. Most importantly, she loved being a mother and a grandmother. Her children & grandchildren were her greatest joy. There was nothing she loved more than seeing her family smile. Sandy was an active member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dazey, ND. She is survived by her husband, Gerald Hanson; children, Kelly (Michelle) Hanson of Hannaford, ND, Bryan (Brandi) Hanson of Dazey, ND, Kristi (Dave) Grandalen of Argusville, ND; 9 grandchildren, Alissa (Shaun) Perkins, Justin Hanson, Zachary Hanson, Teylor Hanson, Brayden Hanson, Landon Hanson, Zoie Hanson, Carter Grandalen, Jaxen Grandalen; brothers, Don (Debbie) Tretter of Elgin, OK, Mark Tretter of CO; sisters, Pat (Lee) Tisdale of Fallon, NV, Kate (Ron) Dronen of Reno, NV, Connie (Gary) Bakken of Wheatland, ND, Lois (Steve) Huschka of Hope, ND; her mother and father-in-law, Earl and Bette (Shiek) Hanson of Cooperstown, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Jean (Emmerich) Tretter. Sandy’s family would like to extend their appreciation for the exceptional care and loving support provided by the staff at the Cooperstown Medical Center and Fairview Medical Center as well as all the friends and relatives who stopped by to visit, sent cards and shared prayers. Funeral services will be Friday, November 7, 2014 at 10:30 am in the Griggs County Central School in Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will be Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 5:00 till 7:00 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, rural Dazey, ND and one hour before services in the School. A Prayer Service will be Thursday at 7:00 in the Church. Interment will be Faith Cemetery, Hannaford, ND.
