BERNIECE I. TURNQUIST Berniece Turnquist, 97, Cooperstown, ND died Thursday, October 16, 2014 in the Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown, ND. Berniece Irene was born December 1, 1916 near Makoti, ND the daughter of Fred and Alma (Peterson) Jensen. She graduated from High School in Cooperstown and then went to work for the Turnquist Family farm where she met her husband, Martin. They were married September 26, 1937. To this union three children were born. She worked as a substitute rural mail carrier and later as a full time carrier when her husband retired. She was an active member of the rural carriers auxiliary. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and enjoyed quilting with the quilters. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved the Lord and was ready to meet Jesus. She is survived by her children, Irene Sallgren, Allan (Glady) Turnquist, and Terry (Michelle) Turnquist all of Miles City, MT; sister, Doris Walen, Cooperstown, ND; ten grandchildren, Marcia Goldmark, Jeanette Cremer, Toni Pembroke, Garry, Mark and Jay Turnquist, Terri Lee Nation, Cody Turnquist, Duane and Doug Maier; twenty three great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Berniece was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Maynard and Virgil Jensen; two grandsons, Danny Taylor and Marty Bjerke; and a great grandson Alex Turnquist. Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will be Friday, October 24, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Friday at 7:00 in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Cooperstown Cemetery, Cooperstown, ND.
