MAXINE E. FLIFLET Maxine E. Fliflet, 84, Cooperstown, ND formerly of Hannaford, ND, died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in the Griggs County Care Center, Cooperstown, ND where she had been a resident since October 2012. Maxine was born April 24, 1930 in Appelton, MN the daughter of Carl and Edith (Wyman) Fliflet. She grew up and attended school in Appelton, MN and graduated from high school. She married Orval Fliflet November 22, 1950 in Big Stone, SD. The couple made their home in Hannaford, ND. She put up a brave and courageous fight against cancer for 4 years. Her wish was to at least be at the graduation in May for her granddaughter, Taquisha and great grandson Austin. She was under the care of HRRV since October 2012 when she was told she had less than 6 months to live and made it 1 ½ years longer. Maxine lived her life to the fullest and her only concern throughout her life was “everyone else”. Her family meant the world to her! Maxine was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxillary Unit 113 in Hannaford, ND. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hannaford, ND. Maxine was a homemaker most of her life, caring for her family even after her children were grown. She managed the Corner Bar in Hannaford, ND for a short time and babysat while her children were in school. She also babysat for her great grandsons Austin and Tyler and cherished that time. Maxine loved to play Skip-Bo with her family, reading anything she got her hands on, word search puzzles, watching the birds and squirrels and feeding them. Before her eyesight started to fail, she enjoyed embroidery, cross stitch and knitting. Maxine is survived by her four children; Norval of Cooperstown, ND, Larry (Audrey) of McVille, ND, Mariann (Reggie) Almklov, Hannaford, ND, and Neil of Hannaford, ND; grandchildren, April Johnson, Bobby Bye, Ryan Ring, Taquisha Bye, Gary Fliflet, Charles DeHoff III, Kelly DeHoff, Corey DeHoff, and Corey Almkov; great grandchildren, Austin and Tyler Johnson, Tanner and Braisen Ring, Brianna Bye, Damion Dehoff and Simon Vernon, Brothers Richard (Lou) and Jerome; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as her special companion, her cat Tinker. Maxine is loved dearly and will be greatly missed by her family! Blessed be her memory! Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orval in 1994; grandson Michael Bye in 2003; brothers; Albert, Sidney, William and sisters; Edith and Annette. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Union Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Monday, October 13, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be at 7:00 Monday in the Funeral Home. Interment will be Tuesday at 1:15 in the Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Hannaford, ND.
