MARVIN L. GTOTTE

June 10, 1931 — September 17, 2014

MARVIN GROTTE Marvin LeRoy Grotte – was born on June 10, 1931 near Blabon, North Dakota; halfway between Hope and Finley. He was the son of Swen and Annie (Sund) Grotte. He married June F. Sutton, November 3, 1951 in Randall, MN. Marvin went into the army shortly after they married and was in the Korean War. The couple farmed in the Finley area and operated the Hotel Finley until 1971. They moved to Walhalla, area where he worked on the missile silos & radar sites in the Iron Workers Union. They moved to Gardner, North Dakota, and later moved to Bismarck, North Dakota, and then to the Minneapolis Area in 1985. Marvin worked in the Iron Workers Union until he retired. After 48 years of marriage in 1999 his dear wife June passed. In 2005 he married Julia Quick, and moved to Park Rapids Minnesota. He is survived by his two daughters: Flora (Keith) Klevgaard, Moorhead, MN, & Anita (Robert) Torkelson, Hendrum, MN and 5 sons: Clark (Kelly) Grotte, Elk River, MN Paul (Karen) Grotte, Georgetown, MN Mark (Wendy) Grotte, St. Michael MN Errol (Melba) Grotte, Royalton, MN Kerry (Connie) Grotte - Moorhead, MN. Brothers: Jon, Walter (Donna) Grotte, Ernie (Marlys) Grotte Sisters: Jean (Beryl) Carlson, Leonard ND & Fern (Tom) Hanson – Leonard ND 19 Grandchildren: 27 Great Grand Children 1 great great grandchild. Proceeded in death by his parents, and brothers, Stanley, Jennings, and sister Edna, and wife June F. Sutton, and Grandson David Grotte. Funeral services will be held, Monday September 22, 2014 at the American Legion in Finley ND at 10:00 am. Visitation will be Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the Quam –Plaisted- Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and one hour before services in the American Legion Hall. Interment will be in the Pickert Cemetery, Pickert, ND. Lunch to follow at the American Legion Hall, Finley, ND. Marvin LeRoy Grotte, Age 83 of Park Rapids MN, formerly of Finley, ND – Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND.
