ELIZABETH (BETH) STOKKA Elizabeth “Beth” Anne Stokka, 62, of Binford, ND, passed away from complications of cancer on August 17, 2014 in Cooperstown Medical Center, Cooperstown, ND. Beth was born July 21, 1952, in Fargo, ND to Raymond and Carolyn (Thompson) Pfeifer. She grew up with older brother Jack and attended school in Buffalo, ND. She graduated in 1970. She was active during her high school years participating in many extra-curricular activities and graduated valedictorian. Beth was elected State President of FHA (now FCCLA). While attending college, she belonged to Kappa Delta Social Sorority, to Mortar Board, and Phi Kappa Phi national honor society. During college at NDSU, she worked many summers at Red Willow Resort. It was here that she met David Stokka, who was farming and ranching in the area. After graduating from NDSU in 1974, she worked in LaMoure teaching English. She married David Stokka, in August of 1975 and settled in their farm near Sutton, ND. There, they started their family of two children: Nathan in 1977 and Gretchen in 1981. She managed the preschool in Cooperstown, ND for many years. Beth taught Speech, Creative Writing, and Theater Arts at Griggs County Central HS in Cooperstown, ND. She directed the 1-Act plays for Regional and State contests and coached the speech team. She was awarded Speech Coach of the Year. In 2000, she took the additional role of 21st CCLC Afterschool Coordinator. Beth was an active member of the community including: a member of P.E.O, Homemakers, the Hospital District Board, and many other organizations. She was also a member of Mabel Lutheran Church. Beth was a very creative, hard-working, and driven individual. She loved music, played several instruments, and had a beautiful singing voice. She was passionate about her friends, family, and students. She is survived by her husband, David Stokka, of Binford, ND; her son, Nathan Stokka, of Fargo, ND; her daughter, Gretchen Stokka, of Bismarck, ND; her mother, Carolyn (Thompson) Pfeifer, of Buffalo, ND; and her brother Jack (Gloria) Pfeifer, of Starbuck, MN. Beth was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Pfeifer, of Buffalo, ND. Visitation/Family service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown, ND, Friday, August 22, at 7 pm. The memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown, ND, Saturday, August 23, at 2 pm. The Burial will be at the Buffalo Cemetery in Buffalo, ND, Saturday, August 23, at 6 pm. Beth was a blessing to her family and friends and will be missed deeply. Beth was loved by those who knew her and touched so many people.
