CARROL D. FLESCHE Carrol D. Flesche, 83, Finley, ND, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014 in the Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, ND. Carrol Dale Flesche was born April 15, 1931 to Edwin and Tillie (Larson) Flesche. He grew up on a farm northeast of Finley, ND. He attended elementary school at Golden Lake #5 (Center School) and took high school correspondence classes from the North Dakota Agriculture College. Carrol attended the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN for his last year of high school and received his diploma in 1950. Afterwards, he returned home to work on the family farm. Carrol retired from farming in 1983 and moved to Finley in 1991. He became a resident of the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville in 2012. Carrol married Joan Berg of Cooperstown in 1989 and was previously married to Alice Lee of Fargo, ND. Carrol enjoyed visiting friends, family, neighbors, and the nursing home staff and residents. He especially valued the friendship of his former wife, Joan. Favorite pastimes included bird watching and visiting North Dakota battle sites. He also traveled extensively in his younger years. Fond memories were trips to Hawaii, Los Angeles, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks with friends Alvin Walden, Roger Anderson and his uncle, Clarence Larson. Carrol considered the restoration of a 1926 Ford Model T to be one his greatest accomplishments. Carrol is survived by his nephews, David (Shirley) Hultstrand, Milton, ND, Randy Hultstrand, Bismarck, ND; nieces, Cathy (Mike) Parrott, Spokane, WA, Julie (Joe) Gartner, New Ulm, MN; several cousins, great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Finley Lutheran Church, Finley, ND. Visitation will be Saturday one hour before services in the Church. Interment will be in the Bethany Cemetery, rural Finley, ND. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Finley Lutheran Church.
