Donald Askegard Donald Askegard, 85, Finley, ND died Monday, February 17, 2014 in Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND. Donald Askegard was born June 9, 1928 the son of Arthur & Alice (Halverson) Askegard in Grand Forks. He Left home at age 16 to work on the Road Department, when he came to Finley, ND. He entered the US Navy and after being honorably discharged he moved back to Finley. Donald married Ardelle Brekke November 5, 1946, in Warren MN. Don worked at the Finley Creamery and later purchased it and named it Don's Dairy, self-employed distributor for Cass Clay Creamery, also worked as a school bus driver for many years and a janitor at Finley Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening, baking and listening to music. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ardelle, Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo, ND; three children: David (Elizabeth), Minneapolis, MN, Daniel, Roseville, MN and Mary Jo (Cliff) Watts, West Fargo, ND; 1 grandson, Adam Watts; great grandson, Ryan; sister, Norma, Seattle, WA; two brothers Charles, Boise, ID and Vernon, Gulf Breeze FL. Preceded by his parents – half-brother, Lloyd; sisters Leona Schmidt, Donna Charbonneau; brother, Warren; Grandson, Allen Askegard. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 3:00 pm in the Finley Lutheran Church, Finley, ND. Visitation will be, Friday, February 21, 2014 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Finley Lutheran Church, Finley, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be at 7:00 pm in the Church. Interment will be in the Finley Cemetery in the spring.
