JOANN THOMPSON

September 7, 1931 — February 16, 2014

JoAnn Thompson JoAnn Thompson was born September 7th, 1931 in Vancouver, WA. The daughter of Edna and Wallace Armstrong, she grew up and attended school in Washington before moving to Wimbledon, ND where she graduated from high school in 1949. After graduating high school, she moved back to Vancouver to attend business school. She married Albert L. Thompson on November 22, 1950 at Eidfjord Lutheran Church in Walum, ND. The couple made their home in Cooperstown, ND where they owned and operated Skyways until 1984. JoAnn was a member of the local PEO chapter, Eastern Star, Trinity Lutheran Church, and worked at the Dakota House in Cooperstown. She died Sunday, February 16, 2014 in palliative care at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. JoAnn was an artist, painter, she enjoyed, traveling with Al in their motorhome, visiting with friends and family at their cabin on Lake Ashtabula, playing cards (penny anne), she loved flowers and birds. She is survived by five daughters: Barbara (Dan) Seeba of Fargo, ND; Linda (Kenn) Haugen of Davenport, ND; Anne (Greg) Harvey of Fargo, ND; Patricia (Leroy) Skarloken of Davenport, ND; Nancy (Dale) Pedersen of Luverne, ND; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; Sisters: Carol (Bob) McNamara of Larimore, ND; Susan Michaelis of Fargo, ND; Brother: Steve Thompson, Carlton, MN. JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents: Edna Thompson and Wallace Armstrong, husband, Albert: brother, Robert Armstrong. Funeral services will be, Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm in Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Tuesday at 7:00 in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Eidfjord Cemetery, rural Walum, ND in the spring.
