LYLE MIDSTOKKE Lyle Midstokke, 66, Finley, ND died Monday, February 3, 2014 in his home in Finley, ND. Lyle Phillip Midstokke was born February 23, 1947 in Sharon, ND the son of Phillip and Thelma (Nordbo) Midstokke. He grew up and attended school in Finley, graduating in 1966 from Finley High School. He then attended North Dakota State School of Science and received his degree in diesel mechanics. Lyle married Char Schroeder August 3, 1968 in Finley, ND. He entered the US Army March of 1970; he received the National Defense Medal, Army Commendation, Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. I was honorably discharged in October of 1971. He returned to Finley where he farmed for fifteen years and then worked for Cenex, Finley Motors, and area farmers, Duane Bakke and Jason Rayner. He married Sherry Lee May 25, 1974 in Finley. The couple made their home on the family farm until 1986 when they moved into Finley. Lyle was a member of the Peterson-Olson American Legion Post #13, served on Finley Twsp. board for 25 yrs., Jaycees, a bowling league, loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing, farming and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Sherry, Finley, ND; sons, Michael (Nicole Flaten), Portland, ND, David , Finley, ND; daughters, Angela (Aaron) Lande, Mayville, ND,, Chana (Buddy) Bunton, Great Falls, MT; foster daughter, Angie (Pete Overby) Charette, Cooperstown, ND; thirteen grandchildren; sister, JoAnn (Don) Kilgore, Finley, ND; sister-in-law, Karen Holland, brother-in-law, Larry (Mary) Lee; aunt, Rosie Hare; uncle, Hans Midstokke Jr. Preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 10:30 am in the Finley Lutheran Church in Finley, ND. Visitation will be Monday, February 10, 2014 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Finley Lutheran Church, Finley, ND and one hour before services in the Church.
