Marvin Messer Memeorial service postponed until Friday at 3:00 pm at the Assembly of God Church in Dazey, ND. Marvin Messer, 82, Hannaford, ND, died Sunday, January 12, 2014 in the Region Hospital Burn Unit, Minneapolis, MN. Marvin Monroe Messer was born in Binford, ND April 1, 1931 to Monroe & Evelyn (Anderson) Messer. The family moved to a farm west of Walum where Marvin & Jeannie now live. He went to school until the 8th grade at the Barklay Country School. Marvin was drafted into the US Army in 1952. He served for 2 years in Korea. He came back to work on the family farm. April 1st, 1972 Marvin was united in marriage to Berthal Jeannie Hague in Minneapolis, MN. They lived on the family farm and did haying and raised cattle. Marvin gave his heart to the Lord when he was 18 and never looked back. He was a charter member of Dazey Assembly of God where he continued until Jesus called him home, faithfully attending with Jeannie. He and Jeannie spent a lot of time at church. Marvin was a board member and he and Jeannie both taught Sunday School. He also was a great prayer warrior. Marvin was a lifetime member of the Gideon’s of the Cooperstown Camp. He was also an active member of the Griggs County Right to Life. He was president and board member for the Oasis Coffee House in the old Nebo Church in Valley City. Marvin and Jeannie were also members of the Wimbledon Seniors Citizens and enjoyed taking part in their meals and activities. Marvin and Jeannie enjoyed just getting in the car, just going for a drive, visiting family or friends. They enjoyed their different cafés and coffee shops along the way and many friends and acquaintances that they met! He often would talk about the Lord in his conversations with others. Marvin is survived by His brothers: Maynard(Charlene) Messer of Rural Hannaford; Romaine Messer of Camdenton, MO, Rallon (Carol) Messer of Mt. Pleasant, IA; Rodney Messer of Jamestown; Sisters: Bernice Baker of Jamestown; Joyce McCarthy of Fargo; Carolyn (Phil) Grage of Gardener, ND; Nita(Arden) Saxberg of rural Cooperstown and many nieces and nephews. Marvin was preceded in death by His Parents, Monroe and Evelyn Messer; Baby brother, Lyle Messer; and Sister Connie Messer. Memorial Services will be Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Dazey Assembly of God Church, Dazey, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 6:00 till 7:00 pm in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the Funeral Home.
