NANCY A. HOOK Nancy A. Hook, 67, Hannaford, ND, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in the Cooperstown Medical Center with her family by her side, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Nancy was born March 16, 1946 in St. Cloud, MN the daughter of Richard Randall and Lou Almklov. Nancy attended Catholic School up to the 6th grade and then attended high school in Foley, MN. She moved to North Dakota when she was 16 and started working in the “Metro Café” in Hannaford, ND as a waitress. She met and married Michael Hook October 9, 1962 in the Faith Lutheran Church, Hannaford, ND. They made their home in Hannaford and raised three daughters. During these years, she enjoyed going to the girls’ Christmas Programs and watching them play basketball. Nancy worked as a waitress for many years at the Stri King Lanes Café and the Walum Café. She also got computer experience by working at Dynamics in Cooperstown, ND. She was a Sunday school teacher and 4-H leader. Nancy was a hard worker and always put her family first. She was a very loving and caring wife and mother. She enjoyed doing crafts, scrapbooking, cooking, baking and a lot of face booking. During the last few years she enjoyed the summer months, loved sitting outside feeding the birds and squirrels and drinking coffee. Nancy is survived by her husband of 51 years , Michael Hook, Hannaford, ND; daughters, Lisa (Keith) Landsiedel, Underwood, ND, Linda (Rick) Haman, Mohall, ND, Shanna (Travis) Smith, Jamestown, ND; sisters, Deb (Andy) Sander, Pam (Jeff) Lichy, Yvonne Randall; stepmother, Darlene Randall, all of MN; brother, Marc (Ana) Almklov, El Paso, TX; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather, Mickey Almklov and brother, Murkey Randall. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Roger Maris Cancer Center. Their dedication and effort to provide her with loving and quality care for the last 5 years was a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. A special thank you to the Cooperstown Medical Center staff for their quality care, comfort and support. Also a heartfelt thank you to the community and friends for all their caring, love and support. We thank God for the gift of her life and the blessing of time that we spent with our wife, mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be Monday, December 23. 2013 at 11:00 am in the Faith Lutheran Church, Hannaford, ND. Visitation will be Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Sunday at 7:00 pm in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Faith Lutheran Cemetery in the spring.
