Marcella Eleanor Urness, 104, Cooperstown, ND died November 1, 2013 in the Griggs County Care Center, Cooperstown, ND. Marcella was born February 15. 1909 on the family farm near Cooperstown, ND, one of seven children of Herman and Annie (Rowley) Michaelis. She grew up on the farm and attended country school close to home. Marcella married Henry Urness on November, 1933. They lived on farmed near Cooperstown. Upon the death of Henry in 1974, she moved to Cooperstown and lived in an apartment until moving into the Nursing Home in May of 1995. Marcell had a special love for working on the farm alongside her husband of many years. Planting and harvesting the crops-also a variety of livestock to feed and care for. She took pride in growing her garden each year-then canning of each item. Always having an abundance of food on hand. Still finding time to raise the family and do volunteer work with the schools and church. Honorary member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Abigail Circle. Their travels over the years took them to many parts of the Dakotas, Minnesota, Montana, Washington and Canada, visiting family and friends. Traveling by car, trains and in later years the airplane. Marcella’s love for writing letters and keeping in touch with family and friends has been a joy to many and will always be remembered. Thanks go her many visitors and the special care and love given over many years of wonderful memories. Marcella is survived by her sons, Donald (Mary Ann) Urness, Fargo, ND, Phillip Urness, Sedro Wolley, WA; daughter, Marion (Dean) Puckett, Sedro Woolley, WA; grandchildren, Steven Urness, Valley City, ND, Sherry (Tim) Fox, Lake Havasau, AZ, Allen (Kim) Taxdahl; great grandchildren John (Laura) Shanks,, Elaine (Chad) Jensen; great great grandchildren, Kaylee McCann, Hailey and Brianna Shanks all of Sedro Woolley, WA; Lucan Haugan, Cheyenne WY; sisters, Grace Beattie, Anaconda, MT and many nieces and nephews. A grandchild, William preceded her in death. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND, Cooperstown Medical Center and Cooperstown Cemetery. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be at 7:00 pm in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Cooperstown Cemetery.
