ORPHA STOKKELAND

ORPHA C. STOKKELAND Orpha Stokkeland, 89, Cooperstown, ND, passed away surrounded by her family, Thursday, August 22, 2013 in the Deaconess Health Care LTC in Northwood, ND. Orpha was born June 16, 1924 near Aneta, ND the daughter of Otto and Clara (Knutson) Sletten; she grew up and attended rural school there. She married Arnold P. Stokkeland, August 1, 1942 in Hannaford, ND and together they had seven children. The couple farmed until 1946 when they moved into Cooperstown, ND. She was very active in her church. She enjoyed all crafts, cooking and baking for her large family, watching birds and tending to her many flowers. She especially enjoyed making traditional Norwegian dishes, lefse being the favorite by many. Orpha is survived by four daughters, Arlene (Mel) Pantzlaff, Whiteclaw, WI, Carolyn (Ben) Dekker, Sharon, ND, Sherry (Gary) Nelson, Luverne, ND, Cindy (Tom) Wall, Northwood, ND; two sons, Lyle (Lila) Jamestown, ND, Lennis, West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Greg, Mike, Stacy and Nick Pantzlaff, Laura, Jason, and Nathan Dekker, Phillip and Brian Stokkeland, Nickole Steiner, Trever Stokkeland, Nikeysha Ryan, Nancy Mueller, Matthew Nelson, Shawn and Jerry Wall, 243/4 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; brother, Arnold Sletten, Aneta, ND; one niece and three nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Clara; husband, Arnold; son Jerald and nephew, Scott. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 11:00 am in Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will be Monday, August, 26, 2013 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Monday at 7:00 pm in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Ottawa Cemetery, rural Aneta, ND at 1:15 pm.
