EDWARD HARVEY URNESS

EDWARD H. URNESS Edward H. Urness, 84, Cooperstown, ND, died Monday, June 24, 2013 in the Griggs County Health Center, Cooperstown, ND. Edward Harvey Urness was born August 8, 1928 at Cooperstown, ND, the son of Carl and Florence (Nierenberg) Urness. He grew up and attended Cooperstown schools. He married Julianne Erickson August 7, 1947 in Twin Valley, MN. The couple farmed in the Cooperstown area for many years before moving into Cooperstown in 1984. Edward was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He served as a director for the following organizations, Griggs County Livestock Assoc., Farmer’s Elevator, Farmers & Merchants Bank, Griggs County Community Action Group, Griggs County Museum and Cooperstown School Board (giving each daughter their diploma). He was a Griggs County Commissioner for 12 years and president of Cooperstown Senior Citizens. Edward enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, hunting, traveling and having coffee with his friends. Edward is survived by his wife Julianne, Cooperstown, ND; children, Linda (Daryl) Jalbert, Fargo, ND. Brenda Kay (Michael) Anderson, Bismarck, ND, Eva Jane Butler, Fargo, ND, LuAnn (Michael) Heinz, Ellendale, ND, Mark (Kelly) Urness, Cooperstown, ND; 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mavis Barhan. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 27 at 10:30 am, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Cooperstown Cemetery, Cooperstown, ND. In lieu of flower the family requests that memorials go the Trinity Lutheran Church Multi Media Fund.
