ALZADA ERICKSON Ethel Alzada Erickson, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown, ND. Alzada was born Dec. 28, 1916 in Hope, ND to Oscar & Ella Johnson. She married Stephen Erickson in 1935 and they lived and farmed in the Steele county area. Stephen died in 1976. Alzada was a faithful member and servant of Hofva Lutheran Church throughout her life in Steele County. She served on the Riverside Township and Election boards for many years and also wrote the Riverside Township weekly news for the Steele County Press. Her lifelong number one priority was her family who she always took great pride in. Alzada will be sadly missed by her five children, Jo Ann (Miles) Payne, Jeanne (Earl) Bailey, Richard (Phyllis), Alan (Jeanette) and Beth (Monte) Cole, 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren and sister-in-law Norma Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Wallace, Leslie, John, infant brother Walter, twin infant sister, Edith, and twin infant granddaughters. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home for their loving care of Alzada. Funeral service will be at 10:30 am Saturday June 1, 2013 at the Luverne Lutheran Church with burial at Hofva Lutheran Cemetery, rural Finley, North Dakota. In lieu of flowers, memorials, if desired, will be appreciated to the Hope Fire-Ambulance Department, Hope, ND.
